Welcome Steve:

Unlike other woodworking forums, this one is also a community.

My son, son-in-law, and myself all have Shopsmiths converted to 520. That's two units in Gainesville, and one in Melrose. We do get up to Woodcraft in Jax once in a while.

once you a have set up a band saw for your saw's lead, do you have to reset it every time you cut a new piece of wood or only when you replace the blade or change your fence settings? When else would want to adjust it after you have set it up?

Every blade has it's own cutting characteristics, usually cutting more agressively toward one side than the other. Therefore, if you have adjusted the angle of your fence to accomodate the leade of a certain blade, that will stay fixed until you put on a different blade.

Usually the only blade that requires this fence adjustment is your resaw blade.
