I guess I need driver education. I have a space the same width (plus a couple of inches) as the small dimension of the SS footprint. As I push from the end, the casters seem to want to go in the direction they happen to be pointed in at that moment. If a wood chip happens to be in the way, they want to react.

I totally understand. It's just like pushing a shopping cart at IKEA! They have 4 wheels that pivot. Impossible to control...
