The most glaring info!
" Controversy over Google AdSense integration through vBulletin.com
When installing vBulletin 4 and using the AdSense integration provided by vBulletin.com, users are agreeing to allow Internet Brands to access information about the performance of their ad units. Internet Brands will also be given a monetary referral credit if someone signs up for an AdSense account through a link on any vBulletin forum as opposed to the owner of the forum.[37]
The owner of the forum also agrees to potentially share revenue in the future, however this is unclear during the sign up process, and Internet Brands has yet to release a statement about how they will use the information gathered from linked AdSense accounts, leading to potential privacy issues and a competitive advantage for future Internet Brands–owned websites. While the percentage of revenue sharing is currently set to 0%, vBulletin Technical Support Lead, Wayne Luke, has stated it could be subject to change in the future.[38] However, as per Google's AdSense rules, all users must explicitly agree to this and will be given at least 30 days notice. So far my impression is that it is "new". That is about as far as I can go at this point.

OK guys, if you look, phpBB is FREE, and VBulletin wasn't.
In my (never to be) humble opinion, THAT is the reason for
the "update."

Yes, the software changeover could have been handled better.
Changes will continue to be made to address issues that you and other forum members are finding. If you want to avoid these problems, choose the User Control Panel link, then select Board Preferences, then change My Board Style to prosilver. That option will give the forum a more traditional appearance.
I like the intergration, please work a little on the layout and fonts if at all posible to make things a little easier to read.

Actually, the new format is quite intuitive and I am going to enjoy the site. The only thing that I do regularly that I have not yet learned how to do with the new format is to 'designate all unread posts as read'. To do that now, I have to actually open the post and then close it.
Now why would I want to designate unread posts as read if I have not read them?

With the old forum, through the user preferences you could specify globally how you wanted to view threads. One of the options I used was to put the newest post at the top of the page. I found this saved scrolling to view what was new. I've been through the used control panel on the new forum and don't find this as an option. At the bottom of individual threads there is an option to view ascending or descending but you can't set this as the default for all threads. Oh, well. As they say in my line of work, "the jury is still out" on the new forum.

Friend or Foe
I don't know yet if this works the way I think it does but it is now undergoing some testing. Just waiting for a foe to come onto the scene.
I have no intention of reporting the results of this testing. If you are curious, you'll have to experiment for yourself.
Posting Images
This is a test exercise on image posting.

It sorta worked.
It appears that we can now post more than 5 images. These are smaller than I had been posting but they display just fine.
The sequence does not appear to be as I had intended but I'll work that issue in real time.
I had to select each image individually. I was unable to select multiple images simultaneously as we could before.
I am not sure what the 'select inline' option is all about.
