Dusty meant the line captioned Birthdays, not the button marked Board Index.

The Birthdays line appears in prosilver and subsilver2 below Who is online, but not in either of the Shopsmith formats.

What is also unusual is that most of them have a signature line that is pushing some product or organization.
Dusty, when you brought the rapid increase in membership to our attention I was at a lose to understand why they were creating unused memberships.
Yesterday I had an Aha moment.

Some things that I have picked up listening to Tech programs on the radio are.

Search engines like Google list their search results based on an algorithm that favours sites that are linked to by multiple other sites.
Most people only look at sites listed on the first page of search results.
Companies listing products/services on the internet therefor want to show up on the first page of search results, preferably near the top.
There are Companies that exist to help these Companies optimize their position in Search results, and they do this by placing links to the clients site on many other web sites to game the search engine algorithm.

So my theory is that the bogus memberships with their links to commercial websites are not here to catch us but rather for the "benefit" of our friends Google [bot], Bing [bot] etc.

Here is a screen capture of one of the suspect members.

If you dont know or figure out about shop stuff you need to loose some fingers, or slip on the shop floor. Get a life or a S O to get you out and about!!!!!
That is always good advise, BBB. Make More Sawdust Safely. I do. I make saw dust nearly every day. The shop is where I get my daily therapy. As for getting a life or a S O...I don't need to. I already have both.

You, BBB, need to browse the forum a bit. You are but a youngster here.

OKAY, maybe I am a bit redundant. But even if I quit posting, you'll find that this forum is redundant. That is part of what makes it so great. The old timers (of which there are many) are willing to listen to and help resolve the issues brought here by the newbees (of which we need more).

Welcome to the forum B B Baby. :)
