Well I would like to think I did but I can't say for sure. I do usually "wiggle" it a bit as I am tightening the set screw but may not have. I will have to play with that and see. I haven't used bigger bits to much since I noticed it. So that could be it. Easy enough to verify. That would explain to me why I saw it then and not when turning a big eccentric piece of limb which should have been worse. In Lathe mode it seems very true. So that very well could be an explanation.

I be thinking wobbley bits.
ALWAYS center on flat by rocking while tightening the quill shaft set screw. Also push 'in'.
Did I say Always?

Now just to be sure.... you do this once in awhile or should I do it ALWAYS....;-)
I don't think its the bit because i noticed it with both a spade bit and forschner at the same time. But if the chuck was wonky then that would explain it. The big test will come tomorrow. I am cracking it and giving it a through cleaning and lubricating and inspection. Mainly just cuz I like taking stuff apart.
