After having the one of the terminals of the FWD/REV switch short out to the motor after a few months of operation, I moved the FWD/REV up to the headstock casing even with the center of the speed control assembly last year.

The abbreviation on the the label above the switch says "Fdw"; it should be "Fwd". Aside from that nit, nice job!

LOL.. too funny. I was so thrilled that I got it installed and with an added bonus it actually worked.... that in my enthusiasm got IT wrong..... back to the shop to print out another....

You turn the top to the right for reverse and to the left for forward?? Hmmm
Just kidding!!!!!
It is a very clean look.
Saw one once where the owner had the label "Normal" "Not Normal"
Of course he has an even more twisted sense of humor than me if that's possible!
It really is a nice job!

Since I am new to the world of SS and reading up on as about as much stuff as I can, I ran saw this article post and was wondering what you are doing with the SS that you need a reversing switch?

Folks who use the lathe like to sand in reverse since it pushes the wood fibres the opposite direction.
A less obvious reason is that it allows mounting the planer on the quill end and feeding the workpieces from the 'normal' front.
Again lathe users can mount the strip sander on the left(as they 'turn' on the right) so as to use the lathe tool sharpener which requires the sander to run 'backwards' from 'normal'.

Maybe when I fix the misspelling I'll go with the normal/not. After all I sometimes wonder about myself.
Also another benefit of reverse is to mount a SPT on either end.
