World War II required more Americans to grow their own food locally in Victory gardens. I think it was a good idea. People are starting to understand that you should eat fresh, local and seasonal when you can. We need more local truck farms, backyard gardens, rain barrels, farmers markets and CSAs (community supported agriculture). A lot of people are starting to see that. The bounty that California shares with our nation and the world is not sustainable.
