Until two years ago, Exotic Lumber was 2.5 miles away from my house and my biggest problem was their limited weekend hours. Now it's 25 miles away. I guess I will continue to consider myself very lucky. They carry it all, domestic and exotic.

Less fortunate? Heck, you are in a perfect position to start your own retail hardwood lumber distribution business. No competion for 200 miles around! So you'd have like, maybe 50 customers in your market? :D

But hey, if you price it like Woodcraft, gross-profit margins would run about 95%. (I once paid upwards of $100/bf there for a few cubic inches of cherry.)

Extramile, you did good in my book. I want to see how that lumber cleans up.

For all the naysayers the cheapest I can find mahogany (REAL mahogany) on the internet is $6 a board foot and $10 is not unusual. I'm guessing he's got about 30 board feet (5'x3'x2"). Plus, where Extramile lives is not exactly a large city that's going to have a lot of competition on prices. Then he either has to DRIVE there or have it delivered. $8/bd ft not counting delivery is $240 + tax. IF he has to drive 5 hours, let's say it's 60 mph, 15 mpg, $2.5/gal is about $50. By MY math that is $190 to the plus side. Anyone else get PAID $6.30 a board foot to haul off mahogany?

Sounds like a great deal. Good going Extramile! Plane some up and let's see what it looks like.

Wow, I didn't know how good that I have it!

Only purchased once from him, but he is about 2 miles from where I work.

Has a lot of different woods, including Mahogany. Nice guy also. I purchased some nice cut off pieces pretty reasonable.

Just a tip on shipping. If it will fit in a Priority "Game Box" the wood will ship for a flat rate. I could do that for anyone. But I don't know jack about wood.........
