Once you go Mac you'll never go back.

I use Windows at work only because I have to, so I'm experienced with both platforms (Windows up to version 7, which really sucks).

When MS Dos came out IBM had their their own version which was much faster
When MS windows came out IBM had OS then Warp which was far superior.
WordPerfect was the document processor of choice but MS gave Word out for free and everyone left WordPerfect.
Lotus was the spread sheet of choice but MS gave away excell and everyone left Lotus.
Peach text was the finance program of choice but MS gave away Money and soon everyone left for Money which later got beat out by quicken.
It seems to me Microsoft understood PC users and that they would abandon a more excellent program for a free one. And once they did and competition was dead you could charge what you will.
It is almost like PC users are getting exactly what they paid for. They weren't willing to pay so now they get Microsoft telling them what they are gonna get.
You are really not serious are you? Lotus and Wordperfect were better than Excel and Word?. Nah, your putting us on. Surely you are!!
As a word processor WordPerfect was far superior to Word. You could turn on symbols and instantly see what was going on in you document. It had line numbering that was required for corporate and legal documents. WordPerfect is still the standard in legal and corporate documents. Write a book and try to build an index, table of content, with end of chapter and bibliography footnote citations with Word then you will know how very inferior Word is.
As for Lotus 123 it could and still does run circles around Excel. I was self taught on Lotus and I still can't do things on Excel that I could on Lotus and I attended many hours of excel training.
Not very intuitive. Build macro's in Excel is like pulling teeth while it is simple process in lotus.
Yes I was serious. I imagine if you are using Word to write a letter to aunt Maddie or excel to figure out you gas mileage you find it satisfactory. But if you are writing a document for a meeting that requires line numbers, or a document that requires both end of chapter and end of document footnotes with citations you will quickly move to WordPerfect.
If you are adding some columns and getting a total Excel works but build a macro that will calculate 6 sigma results for a continuing process you will go to Lotus.

I tend to agree with you on Apple. If you want to play with a computer or figure out how to do something PC are the best. But if you are using a computer to get data and don't want to worry about drivers, updates, or how to get that data then Apple is best.
Having an IPad and seeing it handle simple things like mail the way it does is a case in point.
You can have multiple email addresses on multiple servers and get your mail with one command. Then you can see your mail from all servers with the latest first or by server.
And to setup those servers you basically give the mail program you email address. You don't have to worry about 'pop' 'tcp' or any of those things. Plus it will combine contacts from all servers or keep them separate.
To move an email form one inbox to another on a different server is a simple press of the move function and then a press into the inbox or fle you want to move it to. You don't have to mail it to yourself or anything like that.
Plus all your mail takes no room on your machine so you can keep mail forever and never use up your storage.
No mess no fuss just the data you want when you want it.

I have to agree with this. When Word was released I was Director of Training and Development for a billion dollar+ corporation. We created a lot of documents and Wordperfect was a pain in the butt. Word was so far superior from the beginning that it was a no-brainier to change. The CFO dumped Lotus as soon as Excel was available. Maybe individual users liked Wordperfect and Lotus because that was what they were used to but corporations were standing in line to get Word and Excel on their systems.

Absolutely. I used Lotus 123 back when I had Windows 3.1 and continued to use it until 1999. Even that old version is light years ahead of any version of Excel ever put together. Excel is not intuitive like Lotus was. Excel is very difficult to learn, and every spread sheet I've tried since Lotus fails to live up to the level of usability that Lotus had.

Is that corporation still in business?
Word was free and WordPerfect was not! Now all those decision makers get to pay through the nose for Word.

I went away from Mac. Back in the 80s and 90s, I had a job where I was the IT guy for a business running all Macs. After having to use them at work, I would never spend my money on one. They can't do anything better than anybody else, and they cost a ton more to get the same thing done. Apple limits your choices too much for me.
And, in the words of an IT guy I know, "But a Mac. Pay more and get less!"

So another day and still no crashes or other problems. So far there have been about 9 updates that have come in. Eight of them were security related and one was a driver update for my AMD video card.
So far this seems to be a pretty good and stable version of windows. Not sure if and when you are scheduled to get your version but I think us early adapters will be getting what ever changes momentary, perhaps that will be nothing other then it being an official version????
I still have a machine running xp which I have all the updates for to bring it to 8.1 so I might just do that and convert that machine to 10 as well. I guess I'll have to see how that goes, maybe just get to 7 and then upgrade.... Just need the time to do it and find all the disks involved.
