I hope this is good enough, although a little out of focus.

Since there are two types of beds I set both types in the photo. The "gravel truck" has a bed that is longer and wider than the truck. All vehicles are 1 1/4" wide. The larger trucks have a bed that is 1 1/2" wide. On top of the bed, a bed front was glued to the cab. It is 1 1/4" long. Height of the bed sides and the cab piece was determined by the looks I wanted. All bed pieces were glued in place. The outsides of the beds were sanded to smooth any protrusions.

The smaller "pickup truck" has no additional bed - just the 1/2" sides glued to the sawn/sanded truck shape. These vehicles are not yet finished. There is more light sanding needed to remove the "fuzzies".

P.S. - The slope on the bed back was done on the belt sander after all glue was cured. Belt sander rather than Strip sander so both bed sides could be sloped together.

That's awesome. Makes me look forward to retirement.

I assume that you cut each one on the bandsaw and then start putting them together. How in the world do you do the wheels?

I am retired , and I would love to do some of these (I am not sure we have that many poor kids here but I could scale the production down ).

Looks like fun. I watched my FIL make toys decades ago, something I always wanted todo ......

I don't do the wheels or axles. I buy them from toysandjoys.com - W100 or 1" wheels @ $0.15 ea. when purchased by the 100s. Axle pegs, AP1 @ $0.08 ea when getting 100 or more. I always buy 300 of each at a time.

If you want to look at plans for making toy cars, trucks, jeeps, cranes, tanks, etc check out Toys and Joys web site. You will be amazed!!!!

Perfect! That would make it easier, and probably cheaper than doing it yourself. Normally I am a "do it all" kind of personality, but that could be one thing that could be overlooked. I will get into toys in a year or so. Right now I am covered in honey do's and with my recent set back, I am behind!
