I'll post pictures tonight

Here is the range is the sliding dovetail. Here is the cut Grove for the side to slide by. Here is the pin on the inside of the box to limit the slide motion of the key

So it only locks one side? If the bottom "key" slides out from the edge to release the dovetail on the opposite side, does it lock that side also, or just the opposite ....

When locked there is a true dovetail engaged at both sides. When it slides over, it unlocks one side by the key sliding out of the way. The other side unlocks at the same time by the notch in the key that removes the Dove tail angle and allows the side to slide right past it. That notch is exactly the same distance from the edge as the thickness of the side slides. And also just as long of a notch. That's why the pin inside aligns the key to the exact position to allow it to slide by.

My other try at this I left the top key loose as a decoy.

Only issue with that, it weakens the sides attached to the top. So I glue those in now
