Can I get a bit of history/time line on the Mark 2? Reminds me of the first prototype of a greenie after and ER.
The Song of Great Lakes site does a pic and time line of SS, but there is no Mark 2s or the Mark VIIs in it. The old sevens that is.

JPG will fill in the details but, I think the MK 2 was made exclusively for sale by Montgomery Wards.

Not sure of the time line, but between the Greenie and the Goldies. MW(Montgomery Wards) wanted a lower cost option to a Mark 5. It was only sold by MW(them).

So mid to late 50's.

Not sure , but I think it had options re base etc..

Read tool hunter carefully. The referenced link is a good example. He says one thing, the article says differently.

The quill has 3 inches of travel. Is that the same as a 10ER?

I bought this M2 for everything but the headstock but now that it runs I get to figure out what to do with it I've put it aside for now while I work on the other goodies.

at moms and no ER here to check, but by using one for a dedicated drill press I can tell you an ER has about a 4-4.5" movement.

In your pix it looks like the quill stop dial is set to 3". Does the dial markings go to 4"++. Determine how to release the quill stop, then see if there is another stop.
