Scroll saw "tune up" the app

The parts that shipped with the upgrade have a flat that is already there as seen here:

I have replaced them with these:

So far they are holding a lot better, I think due to my use of a t-handle wrench to tighten them rather then my fingers on the small levers.

Time will tell if I like this or the other arms better, but for now I'm thinking he cap screws are better for me.

I have the teal version but if you upgraded the blade changing system I believe it is the same as mine. Blade popping out of the upper holder is a problem for me too. I read a tip about using a piece of sandpaper to roughen up the ends of the blade. I also read a suggestion to grind the ends of the screws flat but have not tried it.

Glad you got the scroll fixed.

As far as blade tension I don't know. My wife is the scroll sawyer. She has a Teal stand alone. That should not have anything to do with the tension on the blade. No mater the brand, tension is tension. When my wife has cutting problems she addusts the tension. Like a lot of other things in wood working there is not one perfect setting.

Is that a puzzle... Share the pattern? It looks amazing

I guess you could call it a puzzle. The pattern is from one of the wood working magazines so would be inappropriate to post here. Next time I am in the shop I will get the magazine name and issue.

OK, it is from Wood Magazine and they call it a Safari Puzzle. The issue is WOOD Issue 184, July 2008. Here is a link where you can down load the plan but you have to pay for it.

Seeing is believing, but so is hearing. WHAT is knocking?

Combination of two things. One the end of the saw is against a steel shelf which amplifies the sound and the powerpro trying to stabilize at low rpms with the scroll saws uneven load. If you move the saw away from the shelving it is pretty hard to hear and as you up the rpm the powerpro stops the hunting. Keep in mind the saw is not designed to work at just 250 (400) rpm setting, this is way low. On the older headstock the low rpm is 700 (1120) and max is "O".

Notice very little air flow while cutting yesterday so I put a couple of drops of oil in the pump so we will see if that fixes that or if it is clogged up like when I first got it..... No plans for doing any cutting today but spent about an hour and half on it yesterday. No more blade popping off issues.

I would like to see some pictures from people who have the new saw (teal) when they put the blades though small drilled holes on inside cuts. It seems the hold down gets in the way but having the slot allows the blade to tilt forward enough to be workable but on the teal saw the slot is no longer there...... just a hole.

Today I have to put a bunch of stuff away. My already limited space is getting smaller and smaller with clutter I haven't taken the time to put away. And I have to find some more room for a few new projects which means I have to do some sanding on old projects, something I really don't like doing, the sanding that is.

No photos today but the teal table has a long slot built in to the table for tilting the blade. Ok. Here is a photo.

My stand alone Teal saw has a slot. The pictures in the SS catalog of the MK V mount saw have the slot.

Also I notice the stand alone scroll saw in no longer in the catalog. Has it been discontinued?

Holds the lower blade holder on its side, thumb-screw up, for inserting blade. Personally I find it easier to just hold the blade holder in my hand.

The lower blade block has a spring loaded pin that holds it in the arm. The idea is to pull the pin and remove the blade block. It then fits side ways in that hole and you loosen or tighten the blade thumb screw to either remove or install the blade. In reality it is just as easy to leave the blade block in place and just put the blade in under the table.

Thank you so much Reible!! This is already a step in the right direction. I really like the thumb screw conversion as well. There is also a larger slotted black plastic piece with holes about the size the tension spacer and I'm clueless as to where that might go also. I'll try to send a picture of it. Thanks again for reply.
