We are going through that in Milwaukee with the Bucks.
Tell the pros to take a hike!

Here in Columbus, our "pro" team is the Ohio State University Buckeyes. They play at Ohio Stadium, which was built in 1922 and renovated in 2001. The original 1922 structure is revealed at the main entrance in the photo below . Current seating capacity is 105,000, and it is sold out for every home game. Gotta admit, though, the head coach does make some pretty big bucks (of the green variety).

There is a solution! Tell them to go to ....!
People have got to stop allowing everyone to put them into bondage. If you don't think taxes to pay for a stadium is bondage then you don't think good.

They are making millions on your sweat, blood and tears and people allow it to happen.

Ed, I was being sarcastic with my last post. When they built a new stadium in Milw, they added a .5% addition sales tax to a 5 county area, It was suppose to last x amount of years, way beyond that now and the tax is still there, for maintenance now. Dont the owners have to maintain there stadium?

Yes their stadiums. Read the contracts the owners almost always gets the biggest lion share of any profit, controls what takes place in the stadium, and try to dictate when repair/upgrades/new stadiums get built. Total lunacy! In Tampa they even got to sell the naming rights. Got a ton of money from Raymond James that the community never Saw.

I figure if they can pay some guy that barely remembers his name $40 million they can build their own stadium. Or have the guy getting $40 million chip in.

Right on Ed, the Milw Bucks NBA team was sold last year, Hedge fun billionairs
from NY bought them, the old facility is about 20 years old, but they want a new one, the NBA sez it does not meet NBA standards, and of course wants the city to pay a good share of it, they got 40$ million in naming rights, and they wanted to keep it instead of throwing it into the construction cost. The Bucks is one of the smallest market in the NBA.
