I am continually amazed by equipment like this. It's almost 70 years old. When he purchased it, my Grandfather had no idea that someday his grandson would be using it. I can't think of many pieces of shop equipment that I could buy today that I could reasonably expect to still be in service in the year 2086. That's incrdible!

Sadly, no auxiliary table. I have the bracket, but no table. I never stumbled across it when we cleaned out the shop. If there was a wood version, maybe we didn't recognize it for what it was.

Describe the 'bracket'.

Joe, you really don't need photo bucket, just upload "inline" photos to the forum server. You can then place them where you want with no Photo Bucket involved ....

The table tilt stop is also different on the E and ER. The E had bosses cast into the trunion with set screws to calibrate the angle at 45 and 90 degrees. The ER has a spring loaded arm that engages a slot in the trunion.
According the the S/N list over on the Yahoo 10ER Users Group your machine was made between Sep. and Dec. 1949. That group is run by Skip Campbell who is one of the most if not the most knowledgeable people on the Magna Engineering Model 10 Shopsmith.

What JPeG is trying to say, an ER bracket will have a machined track, and one threaded hole.
An E bracket will have a smooth track, and 2 studs, to attach the aux table (aluminum) mount.
Easiest way to tell, the tailstock Morse taper is machined into the casting on the E model.
On the ER, it is a big bolt-on proposition. (You can loosen a nut, and move it around to center.
On the E model, it is NOT adjustable.
Cut to the chase, look for an ER model tailstock, if you don't have one, and get a 9 inch
long ext table base. (The base can be mounted, with the tailstock upside-down, and allow
the table to below center. Useful for sanding operations.)
Oh, most EVERYTHING that fits on an ER model will fit on an E model. And, anything that mounts
directly on the spindle, will fit EVERYTHING, including the new Mk7.
(If it also mounts on the quill or way tubes, YMMV.)

Oh, get a tailstock and ext table for the head end.
You can mount them there as well. Handy as hell up there, too.

I hope this is okay. This is the survey from the other site. I'm still working on a photo. I finally got it resized less than 2mb, and now the site doesn't like the resolution. Gah!
