And if there is a way to get electricity, those with a Shopsmith and some raw materials will be able to build for those who have a need and thus barter your way into prosperity (or at least feed your family).
Ergo, your Shopsmith (or Shopsmiths if so inclined) are your best hedge against a falling, crashing and burning commodities and stock market. Which would lead to a possible conclusion that a Shopsmith is the better investment than gold or silver. Maybe that's why some of the models are called "Goldies" and that "Greenies" are a replacement for greenbacks?.?

I've been working on my taxes the last couple of days. I have done it on paper and now will be putting into e-file. It is always interesting to see how things work out, investment and other wise. Some added fun due to selling the house in the UP this past year, at a loss no less.
Things that I know a lot of you retires know, like they can and do tax part of your social security....... I guess it is a privilege some of you are waiting for once you retire. I guess they just don't want you getting rich off your SS checks.
Then there are your 401K plans. Last year my total gain was a whopping .39%! Now I'm not talking about the losses this year already.... I have a managed account and most of the investments are geared to having me not loss more money so OK I did not expect much but still. I can do better a lot of places, maybe even buying and selling gold/silver. No plans to do that but I am thinking of taking a bit more out each year and investing other places. I mean it is just sad. Its not even good for the government, less they can tax me on...... oh darn.
Oh well it is only money. Food, shelter, meds, a car, some new tools, what else do I need?
OK time to get back at it. Want to file yet this week.

I have a storage space I rent, you can pay by the month or if you pay 6 months in advance you get a 10% discount, cant even get close to that on a 6 month CD with $10K in it.
Old Uncle Bernie will fix all that for us.

Having been divorced for nearly 35 years, my only SO that needs justification is my bank account (which is more tight with my money than my ex!)
As for new acquisitions, this Spring I'm actually going to sell my 10, both 500s and the 510. Though I AM keeping all the SPTs.

Even with the new shop space arriving this Summer, I've determined that my Mark 7 is sufficient for the future. Plus, the money from selling those will start to help replenish the wood working toys account.
Though....... I was truly tempted when I saw a local CL ad for a 520 with a few SPTs and other goodies. I wonder what that set converts to compared to the price of platinum?

I would certainly keep the 10 or the 510 and make a dedicated drill press. Also maybe one of the 500s and make a shorty sanding station that will double as a power station for all the STPs you are keeping.
I guess I don't understanding why you are selling toys to buy toys.

I ditto John, if that 10 has a speed changer what a wonderfull DP and if wall mounted takes less space then a free standing one. As far as the others, I cant speak for what you have and use, but I would make a mini sanding station, belt left, disc right. Or other options, that variable speed is such a nice feature, IMHO.
Ya I had an affluent X, tighter then a kdntiab8bn3kfb, you fill in the missed spelled.

I just figured out how I,m going to get rich. I will invest $100,000 in storage space and pay 6 months in advance and get back 10% every 6 months which will be $10,000. $20,000 a year where do I send up!
I am in the money!

Ed are you messing with me, or did I miss something? OH William Dufain is doing Rosseling gold commercial as I type this.
Ed no BS and not a band saw, was Bush a good Governor of FL? Is his claims to fame good?
Now to your post/respond to me, was that a beat down? I was saying if I pay 90$ a month it is $540, if I pay a head it is $486, 10% savings, that I cant get that return if I kept it in savings, even a 10K CD for 6 months.

Ed I wish 10 years ago I bought a few acres, put in storage space/garages, just some snow plowing up here and some green space cutting, no maintenance, no destructive apartment rentals tenants, ect.
Do the math Ed, $20,000 a year where do I send up! And it is sign up, but I am bad at spelling and proof reading my post too
