Time to get at the sharpening. I have a whole host of things that need some work but the new toy gets the nod for today.

I know you love pictures so lets start with a picture of the plane.

They come with the angle established but that is about it. I guess if one were desperate you could use them in that state but they really need some care out of the box.

I use sandpaper attached to optically flat glass so I started on the back side and just did a small amount of effort to see how bad things looked. It needed some work, this is a picture of that but it is not clear enough to see what I saw.

I went to the 240 grit and started there as that seem to match what the surface looked like from the company. I then worked to 600 which is when I took this picture.

It is pretty flat at this point so I went on to the finer papers and got to 2000 grit where I stopped. Here is a picture of that.

Now I went to the angle and duplicated the angle they had and polished it so it looked like this:

I stopped there. So far so good now to wait for a project to give it a work out on.
