You are correct that they are not aligned. vertically. I know that is one of those 'duh' things that anyone with slightest common sense should know (and I did) but thanks for bringing it up anyway.

Growing up my dad had a Mark V for as long as I can remember and used it for any furniture repair that needed more than glue and clamps or colored filler So fortunately I do have some basic understanding of the machine itself. And it would seem that with all the help I am getting here - I will know much more about it pretty quickly.

I'm thinking I might buy a bandsaw soon to add to one of my 10ER machines, so I've been researching how the Mark V bandsaw would mount on a 10ER. I'm confident I could build a mount adapter, but in researching the power connection, I found this thread.

If you buy and don't like the couplings, I will trade you an original one for them. I have used this setup when I was cutting metal with the bandsaw. These work real good when the input and output shafts are different diameters like 5/8" to 1/2".

Bill, looking at the couplers on the site you linked to, I get the impression that the white plastic part that the original poster of this thread was missing would not be needed with these couplers. One coupler connects to the shaft on the 10ER headstock, the other coupler connects to the shaft on the bandsaw, and they connect together with the spider. Is that correct or am I an idiot?

This is the coupler for the 10ER scroll/jig saw that fits on top of the 10ER headstock and is driven from the quill. This coupler is often missing or broken on these early 10ER scroll/jig saws. Yes, I did use it on the Mark V headstock as a non-breakable coupler when using the bandsaw for metal cutting. The plastic coupler broke when I was cutting metal with the bandsaw and this coupler was available. This coupler must be closely aligned.

That's good information for me to have. The recent 10ER I bought had that jigsaw with it. I'm still in the disassembling/cleaning stage and haven't given any attention to the jigsaw yet. But I have a hunch that I'll be needing that coupler.
