Yes you are correct. We have been through this before. 1/2-24 is a UNS (special) thread not a UNEX thread. That makes it even harder to find. Sorry!

The hubs he slipped on the added arbor shaft are 5/8".

So what does 1/2" thread have to do with that?

I say it was 5/8-18.

He said he got the threaded shaft adapter out of his junk drawer so probably not Shopsmith.
I was a bit puzzled as to why he used that adapter anyway and not just put the pulley directly on the shaft.
Later in the video I got the impression it was so his motor tension adjuster would clear the ends of the feet on the mounting base. But then again if he had pointed the feet towards the front of the bandsaw instead of the back it wouldn't have been a problem.

Sorry, I was thinking a 1/2" SS universal arbor which has an almost impossible nut to find because it is 1/2"-28 UNEF. That is why Hogwinslow (I think) mades some and has them listed on eBay. However, you do realize that the Jointer, Jig saw and Scroll saw are all 1/2" and take a 1/2" hub that SS sells don't you?

He said he could not find a nut so I doubt it is 5/8-18. That is a fine thread and should be pretty easy to find. Most places carry UNC and UNF fasteners. When you get finer than that it becomes a problem and there are 5 finer thread pitches than 5/8-18, -20,-24,-27,-28 and -32.

Yep, but the 1/2" hubs do not have a closed end like the 'outer' one he used. Also that arbor shaft is the same diameter as the bandsaw shaft.

Here finding a UNF is almost impossible at the big orange store and there is only one 'real' hardware store in town. Lowes has some UNF, but no UNEF.

The BB stores got a bunch of metric, but only the course threads there also.

Happened when he turned it by hand, and with the motor.

I agree, that looked like an arbor for the Model 10 stuff,
most likely a grinding wheel (1/2 inch) arbor.

Wrong size set screw.

Any body else looking at both the shaft and that 'arbor'. They the same OD!

And he put 5/8" hubs on it for the pulley.

Well he measured the arbor to be "0.580" so it must be a 9/16 - 24.

We will never know fer sure, so "whatever".

Yup, I knew you would catch that.

Ace is the place. They have lots of UNF fasteners. At least here they do.

What is an "ACE"? Ain't none here any more!
