Home Depot added feature I just noticed today

Home Depot tried having a store here a few years back. They foolishly built their store across the street from Menards. Then, they stupidly hired people who spoke only Mexican to work there. Within a couple of years, they had to close the store and leave town. Home Depot is a company who just doesn't seem to understand how things work in the real world.
While they were here, their parking lot was empty every day except for employee's cars, and across the street, Menards lot was packed from 7am to closing.

I have never noticed them pro counter guys 'checking' anyone out.

The checkout in that area has been there since day one.

Or maybe Spanglish. I know a few phrases, like "dos cervezas por favor", followed about an hour later with, "excuse me where is the restroom?".

Last fall I stopped in the HD by moms during the week, only self check out and the contractors check out, but they had 2 people to assist you with self check out. Have not been in one since till about a week ago to look at sheet goods, more help then shoppers, must have figured it out.
People will "shop" at a Menards, HD they just go in and get what they want and leave. I have noticed that for years.

It wasn't Spanish. It was a Mexican attempt at Spanish. A true Spanish speaker would have a difficult time figuring out what language it was. Whatever it was, it didn't sell here. They left town almost as fast as they arrived.

We have two Home Depot stores here and they are both seemingly doing well. Usually the store locator function is just spot on, and the only time I had a problem, it was I who had the problem.

I normally shop at one store closer to my residence but was across town at the other, and forgot to update my store preference. The location would have been correct if I was in the other store.

I changed stores on my phone and it took me right to what I wanted. The text to phone works for me as well, and the contractor check out and the "Will Call" works well enough. I place the order on-line and they text me when it's ready for pick-up.

I also like their tool rental department, generally. 9:00 am on a Saturday is likely to have a line, so timing is important.

I am sure there are locations in every company that aren't up to speed but here they work well for me.

Fast and exact
Our Home Depots are usually manned by well trained people. Walk in ask where something is and they take you to it and they usually answer most questions about it. Only problem is tools, each seem to have their favorite manufacture so their opinion is usually tainted in that direction.

I must have an honest face, they have not carded me for spray paint, well yet anyway but then I'm still 38 so that might be why.

I just dislike the self-checkout stuff. We tried it when they were first starting it but every time we ran in to problems and had to be helped anyway. After a few times I got to disliking the whole thing.

I'm going to show you this picture in hopes of this thread not becoming a foodie thread, wish me luck.

Home Depot has them for $19.97.

Still have to order the sticks but one thing at a time.

I do like the location feature on HD website. It lists the store quantity on hand and only the main location an item is supposed to be. The employees have alternate display locations listed on their equipment. I have wished other stores also listed location not just how many are on hand.

I do not mind self check out but I need a cashier to enter my military discount. HD made software arrangements to allow it to be entered by an employee at their self checkouts, Lowes originally did not. I have not been back through self checkout at Lowes since I had to have a transaction suspended and go to a different checkout to get my discount.
