Good article.

Let's be thankful that the US has been in the forefront in the fight against ISIL. And we've been winning. ISIL holds less territory now than they did a few months ago. The main thing holding us back now is the political situation in Iraq and Syria. Mosul could be retaken now, but the actors in the area can't seem to cooperate.

ISIS is abbreviation for Islamic State in Syria. ISIL is Islamic State in Irac and Levant. To me ISIL seems more dangerous.

Map of Levant - https://www.google.com/?ion=1&espv=2#q=levant+map

Still gotta remember the Radical Islamists in the Phillipines that were thwarted by General Black Jack Pershing/ Also should keep in mind the Radical Islamist pirates that were put down near Tripoli after the U.S. re-formed and sent the Marines.

The previous Caliphate called the Ottoman Empire was only dismantled because of WWI. Now the radicals are trying to make another Caliphate.

In other words, ISIL is not the new Hitler - it is a try on re-formation of a type of historic muslim empire (or Caliphate)
