Ed, that's an inspired solution....if it works.
The lag is a more permanent one, as is the kiddy cad, tho.
My chell specker is in the frits, too.

I thought about this today why don't you make a compressed air canon to shoot the golf balls at them

How about an air cannon that sucks in the chipper and fires it about a half mile.

Re: Todays odd project: Golf ball chipmunk protection, maybe??
The chipmunks are welcome here and pretty much have the run of the planting things were ever they like. Never know when some odd flower or plant will show up, even batches of sunflowers planted by you know who. It makes it interesting and fun, an ever changing yard. I do not want to harm them just to control them a bit.
I made some wire covers for the other planted tubs, they are new this year. The plastic ones from last year are about worn out after a few years. In those planters I had a layer of rocks on the surface which also worked but I wanted to try something new this year.
So far there has been no attempts, at least that I can see, of any attempt at planting anything extra in that pot. The screen ones they simply don't have access to for now. I'll have to decide if I want the let the plants grow through or if I want to add something to the surface after removing the screens......

I would say putting golf balls in a planter is a good idea. You will know exactly where a golf ball is when you want to throw it at a chipmunk.

Now if he could only train them to bring the ball back to save time picking them upEd in Tampa wrote:I would say putting golf balls in a planter is a good idea. You will know exactly where a golf ball is when you want to throw it at a chipmunk.

If he could do that, he could train them to keep out of the beds!sawmill wrote:Now if he could only train them to bring the ball back to save time picking them upEd in Tampa wrote:I would say putting golf balls in a planter is a good idea. Re: Todays odd project: Golf ball chipmunk protection, maybe??
Three weeks and no chipmunk activity in the golf ball planter. Decided to get another bag of the golf balls and add them to another box. Chocolate Mint plant looks good with them all around.
It interesting that I have not even seen one of them get in the planter to even look around, normally they are very interested in places were there is loose soil. In fact I hope they leave some of my bean seeds to grow, I see digging in the rows...........
I've been digging up garden boxes and adding fresh composted soil and there is a robin who likes to come watch me. When I go for a fresh load she/he jumps in the garden box and looks for worms. When I come back she sits near by and waits for me to finish or sometimes goes to the compost bin to see what might be happening there. Today she was "scolding" me because I was taking too long breaking up clumps in the last box....
