That is Skip Campbell's 'registry'.

I do not know if Skip is still updating the file.

As JPG says that data base was put together by Skip Campbell, I believe to get a rough idea when changes were made to the 10er design.

I sent him the information on mine several years ago but they were never added to the file on the Shopsmith10ERusers forum. So I think perhaps he got the information he needed and isn't updating it.

My mission in what I did was educational in nature.

When the 10E preliminary manual is released I have an expanded section on both changes and the serial number survey.

Before Skip put all the data together, we had nothing of this information.

I do not want to hijack Skip's work. If Skip wants to reopen registration activities I feel certain it will be the same as before.

With John Burger's assistance, I found there is yet another variation of the original 10E fence that added a rear locking mechanism which I documented in the 10E Preliminary Manual Restoration Project.

If we do get Skip's blessing to modify the Data Set even further and add another notation for this type of Fence I will suggest we designate it as 1A for Additional Lock Mechanism. see attachments.

I would create a separate email account and some instructions on how to report the data if I were undertaking that project for folks to send in their data, just to keep it in a single place. Skip is welcome to use what I have added in my educational effort in any way he sees fit.

If I were to receive his blessing to take it over I could only see me personally updating it until I retire next year. I would certainly want two other members to have access to the email and all the data to make sure it is sustained.

If I were to consider it, I would request all the email addresses of the original respondents to Skip's original inquiry so they might update their data with the new revision distinctions. Note I said "If"

In my mind, if Skip is not on-board with this change to the data, whether he chooses to do the work himself or allows someone else to tackle the project, it is not something I am even going to consider.

Does that help folks understand where I am on this?

IIUC, it was not initially 'optional', but came later. Perhaps it was a way to achieve the same 'features' as the new 10ER rip fence with the original 10E rip fence.(rear clamp and mortising post mount).

I totally agree. I don't think we will ever know how 10E's were upgraded to 10ER's particularly after the sale. Was there a kit? Probably not from everything we know now. I also agree the 10E rear fence clamp was made after the 10ER was on the drawing board or maybe even in production.

It was a way for 10E owners to get the added stability of the 10ER fence without buying a complete fence.

My point was including it to help define what one has with theirs.

So little documentation of changes, accessories, kits, upgrades exist in print that we have preserved, so if there is any we need to preserve and share it.

It's rare like the lower saw guard and lower belt guard which I did not cite in the SN Data, but did in Appendix C of the Prelim 10E manual.
