Do you own one of these?
The angle should not matter at all for this piece. You have to use this between centers with the tailstock, no where for it to go if it comes loose!reible wrote:Do you own one of these?
I have a question in to oneway asking if the set screw is at the correct angle for mounting on a shopsmith. I've seen to many things that say they are for a shopsmith and in actuality are for a plain 5/8" shaft. If it is at the angle I'll add one to my list of things to buy. If not then I'll see if they are willing to make the change.

But if it is not angled won't it scar up the spindle and thus further affecting later set screws?ChrisNeilan wrote:The angle should not matter at all for this piece. EdSaw arbors and other accessories, absolutely should have the angle!
Yes I have. Someone used a knurled cut center and it left a scar. I many have the quill somewhere around here but I don't know where. I replaced the quill with a double bearing model anyway.jsburger wrote:Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever seen a SS quill spindle with set screw marks? I have not and I have five 60+ year old 10ER's, a '53 Greenie and two other MK V's. Not the slightest hint of scaring, just a little of the blackening worn off. I don't know what grade of steel the spindle is made of but it is HARD. The spindle is harder than the set screw.
