Re: BEST WAY TO CLEAN ALUMINUM SS TABLES
In retrospect, I just cleaned mine up to get rid of oxidation, not to get to the pure Aluminum/Show Pony look.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

I've never used anything but wax on my 500 and 510 tables.

I have routinely cleaned with mineral spirits before I waxed but other than that I have done nothing.garys wrote:I've never used anything but wax on my 500 and 510 tables.

Re: BEST WAY TO CLEAN ALUMINUM SS TABLES
Found it, a pic of a SS cast iron Band Saw table that was lightly rusted with some heavy bubbly rust and pitting in one spot. This one I started out with 150 or courser aluminum oxide and went up the ladder to 400 grit, all wet.

Something wrong with 'SD' cards?ERLover wrote:Pics of a bad cast iron SS Band Saw table. I started with with 240 AO wet with MS then, 320, then 400. Oops deleted off of Desk top, no I am not doing a 3 thing process again tonight.
I may need to get a smart phone/camera, take the pic and email it to myself, easier then the take it on the camera pic, send it to the mahine, do it on the computer, try and save it, then find it.

I have a Western Digital 3TB external drive hooked up to my wireless router. All 5300+ pictures are on it. I periodically burn them to DVD in case something happens so I don't loose them. If I use my digital camera I just pull the SD card and plug it into the computer and copy everything over.JPG wrote:Something wrong with 'SD' cards?ERLover wrote:Pics of a bad cast iron SS Band Saw table. If I use my phone, which I use more these days, Western Digital has an app called WD Photos. It does two things. First I can view the pictures on the network drive on my phone from anywhere. The other thing it does is upload any picture I take with the phone to the drive. If I am at home and my phone is connected to my WiFi network it happens automatically. If I am away from home and not connected to WiFi I can select the pictures on the phone and tell the app to upload them and it will over the phone data connection. I have unlimited data on the cell phone plan so it is never a problem.

I've always use maroon Scotch-brite pads, followed be gray pads. I lube them in use with wd-40. Messy. Wear nitrile gloves. Wipe with mineral spirits or naphtha to clean up. Works great on tubes, too.
Re: BEST WAY TO CLEAN ALUMINUM SS TABLES
Has anyone tried the trick of using diet coke and a fine scotchbrite pad? YouTube show some interesting results on aluminium and chrome using this technique.
