Latillas!






No never heard of them before, but recognized 'the look'.

Too much like work, watch it, put it in the 1000 DVD disc feed/storage, pull up by title or/and subject, hit play and watch!!!

Someone gave me a bunch of spindles and I had no idea what to do with them. I am trying to get rid of "stuff" including much wood. I want to get the garage wired and be able to work inside and not be dependent on clear weather. This pic shows some of these turned and the one on the centers shows that my chisels need honing. You can tell that the painted part if the original spindle. It was that dastardly Harry Potter series that gave me these ideas. Just thought I would share.

Dick, thank you. I meant to say in the original post that I was practicing with my skew.

What I plan to do with these is to stop using the candle wax on all the others and send them all to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. I had a couple of phone conversations with a dear lady and she told me that some of the children being treated there may have allergic reactions to any finishings. So, I will simply sand and the children can enjoy the raw wood. After getting all my current projects completed, I will be making little cars and sending them. Children get to my heart in a very special way.

I, for one, would like to contribute to that. Maybe others here might also. Any information how would be appreciated ....

My wife volunteers for Cancer Driveline, a local group that drive patients to and from their appointment at the Cancer Clinic. A few of rides have had difficulty stepping up into her minivan so she asked me to make a stool for them to use.
This is what I came up with, a classic 5 board bench only shorter, (9 inches tall).

Nice step stool and a nicer cause, Kudos to your wife.

Swampgator and Ron: Wonderful thoughts and plans.

As you may know, little wood cars and trucks are a favorite thing to give to kids. The first couple batches I made were dipped in mineral oil then wiped clean. After the federal concerns about finishes, I made them without any finish. Also use poplar which is almost allergy free. Also allows them to be painted if appropriate.

The step for the van is a very worthwhile project. When my wife's step mother had cancer, she needed a step to help her into our Dodge mini van.
