Since you were only talking about mounting on the head stock I only scanned the page of the manual that showed the head stock. Here is the entire manual.

Thanks John for the manual. You're right about the initial request was for just the headstock. When you posted the bandsaw picture I decided to make some extra brackets for other SPTs. It seems Shopsmith's strong suit in this case was not publishing. The light location page looks like someone played with paper doll cutouts too many times.

True but there is no reason to produce an accurate mechanical drawing (costs money) for something that does not need to be precise. The brackets can be mounted just about anywhere. That page is just suggestions.

What did you use to make the brackets? Two pieces of flat aluminum bar stock comes to mind.

I used some 3/16" X 1" steel bar stock for the outer larger width. I cut one 1" piece in half lengthwise and milled it to .14 inches thick for the inner piece. Would definitely been easier with aluminum but steel was on hand.

In my Mark V manual there was a diagram plan to make a utility light holder that mounts to the way bars. If you want I can email a copy to you of the plan. Basically it was a 12 inch piece of 2x4 that had two holes cut for the way tubes 2 1/2 inch in from the side 1 1/4 inch from the bottom one for each side. A centerline hole drilled top to bottom in the center for a carriage bolt with a wing nut to hold it together after you make the final cut width wise through the center of the way tube holes. It can be placed anywhere along the way tubes and tighten down with the wing nut, you mount the light to your bracket. Don't know if I explained it right, pics would probably help, I have one on mine made about 30 yrs ago still going strong works great and was free, used a scap piece of 2x4
