Re: September 2016 Projects
It's actually fairly comfortable. I would add a cushion if I was going to sit in it for long periods. The chair back is actually straight up and down with the lean added by the rockers to make it comfortable. It is made from cut down 2x4's and 1x4's for the slats on the back and seat. I found the seat height too low on the prototype, 14 inches, so increased the leg length to raise it to 16 inches. If I was going to make more of these I would cut the rockers out of 2x6's just to make sure of the size. The 2x4's were not 3 1/2 inches wide which makes it hard to get the rounded edge for the rocker without decreasing the width too much allowing the legs touch the floor. I had cedar 2x4's left over from building my greenhouse so figured this was a good thing to use them for and my parents would love rockers for their patio.

Very nice. Looks rustic, but also appears very functional and stout.

They, thay, thae, look great. I like the timber oil, I use the Teak tinted one on White Oak, and when to need to be redo, a light sanding then just a new application. Mine has lasted 2 years out side in WI weather, no redo yet, this coming spring will freshen them up.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

I'll add into the topic with a Christmas gift (trying for a LOT of home made gifts this year), anyways, here was a quick display piece. Still need to figure out my big item (maybe desk for my daughter).

I consider 2 hours or less, start to finish quick (well except stain drying and lacquer drying)...JPG wrote:That does not look 'quick' to me!Beave2012 wrote:I'll add into the topic with a Christmas gift (trying for a LOT of home made gifts this year), anyways, here was a quick display piece. I would also. I doubt I could finish that in far more longer time than that.
