Does anyone out there happen to have a Part # 504216 worm control shaft they would be willing to allow me to beg, buy, or steal?? I have one that is slightly bent.
I have chucked it up in my Little Jet lathe and so far have been unable to bump it true. It binds just enough that the worm doesn't turn in the pork chop freely.
I don't know if it is available from SS or not?

It was on my other jointer when I bought it so I thought it was a standard piece of equipment. My mistake, but I still want a guard on this jointer whether it be the one shown or a "Magna" cover.

Just for complete 'disclosure', the 'Magna' one is movable to the rear behind the fence for when making rabbets. It covers the exposed cutter behind the fence. I prefer it over the newer design. Rotating couplers do not scare me(but I be careful to not touch them!).

Thanks for doing my shopping for me. I really prefer the other style feather guard though if I can find one. The one on eBay looks rough and the guy likes it too much!

Been working on the Mark VII and found some problems. I finally got the Mark V head stock so that works OK. It runs very smooth however I adjusted it in accordance to the SS manual and it seems to run to fast even on the Router setting, Ordered a tachometer from Amazon so we shall see!! Back to the Mark VII. I found that one of the casters is missing probably will find one easily, wouldn't want to bet on that one. I first went to Harbor Freight and bought a set of 3" casters with a 1/2" bolt to attach to the frame but found the metal is about 1/8" thick and folded up when the unit moved. Next step, I had a set of 3" hard rubber locking casters that I have no idea where they come from but on a self like a lot more junk that I had refused to get rid of per the better half's wishes, and improvised. I will probably re-do later but for now this seems to work Don't know what is going to happen if I put in drill press mode?
If anyone should happen to have a spare caster laying around let me know.

FWIW The MVII caster stem is shorter than the M5/V caster.
1 3/8 vs 1 5/8.
