You have no way of knowing this. A foreign based company could very easily pay US citizens wages and benefits, use US resources to complete R&D projects and reinvest all potential profits.

This band wagon of yours sounds good to an activist. To a realist, well, maybe not so good.

You sound a lot like a politician.

Hey Dusty - how about the wages that U.S. workers would spend at Wal Mart, Target, Auto Dealerships, etc.? How about taxes U.S. workers would pay?

Then you have the US companies moving there HQ oversees but still have manufacturing done in the US. There are so many variables in a Global economy that one size does not fit all. Unless you can still fit into and wear your Double Knit Polyester Zans a Belt pants and Banlon Shirts from the late 60s early 70s.

Well, most of Target and WalMart/SamsClub comes from China. About 10-12 years ago it was 30% of there exports, I am sure less now. Auto??? How many new parts are made out of the US, then put into American assemblied cars and shipped in here for final assembly???

If you believe that you actively support the philosophy of "Buy American", you might want to study (don't just read) this article and then do some surfing to find American Made Goods that are truly "American Made".

Thanks, Dusty. Great article. I knew that VW had built a plant in Chattanooga, TN, Whirlpool makes dishwashers, refrigerators and ranges in Cleveland, TN. I grew up between the two towns on farms and this is big news for workers there. I also knew that GE made refrigerators and freezers for Sears in China and other parts of the world. I purchased a 2007 Toyota Sienna in 2008 and it is made in Indiana mostly American designed and manufactured parts. It is a really well made machine. Also, the Toyota Avalon is American made with mostly American made parts. And, the Tundra was made in Texas with American made parts. I don't know anymore. This is a great article with clear information about why and when this all happened. But, I gleaned hope for the American workers in the next few years. When the prices on raw goods drops, jobs will most likely return to our country. But, it mentioned a couple of times that American workers are more productive. Yeah!
This article also dispelled some myths in the political arena. But, I won't go there.

OK, if you all remember, I lost EVERYTHING in a house fire
a few years ago. One of the things I lost, was my computer.

I built that computer, using a motherboard, from a Taiwanese
manufacturer, that had a mainland China factory.

I had been involved with that company, for about 8 years before.
I was a Moderator on their website's Forum, and the board that I
'lost in the fire, was a freebie from them.

I am currently running the same model board Abit IP-35Pro,
simply because I liked it, and still do! And, it was made in
PRC. (People's Republic of China.)

I'm NOT saying that I LIKE Communist China, I'm just saying
that I like this motherboard from Communist China! (As well
as MOST of ALL OF OUR clothes.) But, I HATE the shoes I just
got, from Wally-World, from the same brand I have been wearing
for the last 15 years. ALL the rest were GREAT, this pair SUCKS
ON ICE!)
