Veining cuts! Wow! - even nicer work than burning. You must have a much better veiner tool than I do. Or, most probably, just much better technique.

I dunno about that but thank you. I would say my technique is still pretty sloppy. I was using an Olson #3 crown tooth for everything but the letters. The blade had some pretty dramatic "drift" to it(just like a bandsaw blade). That took some getting used to. For the letters I used an Olson #0 spiral blade.

These are soap moulds that I made for my daughter. I made a smaller one for her last year but it wasn't big enough for the recipes she uses.

One end opens for easy extraction, they are held in place by rare earth magnets and dowels.

They are made from 1 x 4 pine. The inside dimensions are 16" x 3½" x 2¾" for a 5 lb batch of soap.

it brought back memories as a kid. When we went to grandmas house we had to grate soap bars that she made for laundry.

Yeah, I remember once when my Grandma sent home with us some laundry soap she had made, you could still see pieces of saponified chicken skin sticking out of it.
Kind of gross.

Oh ya, we had to save all the cooking fat for her for the soap making.

The soap boxes reminded me of when we lived on the farm and had a cow. We had a churn and every few days, we made buttermilk, then churned it and made butter. These boxes reminded me of the butter mold. That's been more than 60 years ago. Nice job.

Well, it is not quiet finished, but close enough for posting. I have some touch up and removal of the edge tape. I need to get a small brush to get in places where a regular brush won't fit between the parts. I am so glad it is over. Well, almost.

My cousin is finally getting married in November. So, I made a cutting board for the new couple. The wood is hard maple.

Shopsmith used for all sawing: ripping and crosscutting. Pro Planer did the planing, and most sanding done on the belt sander.

Non-Shopsmith equipment: Random orbit sander used for finishing sanding; router for the rounding over. I did a small amount of hand sanding.

May the marriage last as long as that cutting board looks like it will last.
