Tire wants to walk off bandsaw wheel

By 'curb' are you referring to the lip on the inner edge of the wheel?

I am guessing that excessive cant will cause greater pressure on the tooth edge compared to pressure on the back edge that will result in force to the tire towards the raised lip edge of the wheel.

Where is the back of the blade aligning relative to the lip?

P.S. Is the upper or lower wheel tire trying to jump the lip?

Reviewed your descriptions and need to state the following.

The tires really need to be up against the lip. That may be difficult to achieve since the wheel diameter is larger at the rear(inner edge) than the front(outer edge).

That 1/4" from the lip is further in than where the back of the blade should align to.

My memory is failing as to the correct distance of the back of the blade when the cant angle is correct. About 1/8 to 1/4 is I think close. HELP!!!

I think the upper wheel cants forward, if I am correct the most or the tire is to the rear on the upper wheel for the blade to ride on the crown of the tire and to the rear of the wheel and the guide/holding bearing on the left side that the back of the blade rides on holds it in place, and on the cutting area the upper and lower guide bearings do the same on that side when set up correctly.

Ain't no crown on the SS bandsaw.

Both wheels are slightly beveled(larger diameter at the inside/rear than at the front).

The upper wheel is canted top in. That cant angle is twice the wheel bevel angle. The result is a consistent tension on both the front and back of the blade. This is where the SS bandsaw differs from other(typical) bandsaws.

The rear guide bearing aligns the back of the blade to the upper wheel.

The lower guide bearing does the same for the blade alignment to the lower wheel. Neither bearings are adjustable(in/out from the base casting).

As fer my feeble memory, the back of the blade should ride 1/4" from the back edge of the lip and about 1/8" from the back edge of the tire. Self Help!!!!! I am adding that info to the blade tracking thread for future reference.

Well I guess you slacked on the taxes in April???
The IRS is so under funded, and with an Offer in Compromise and all the years you get to play with it, why bother?? $77K owed, after 7 years of dicking around, and had to pay $1001.00 on it, as nephew said, WTF was the $1.00 for??

Filed local school tax return in April.

Slacking, no, just burned out by then.

I do them all by myself(wish 'they' would stop making changes).


Looking forward to next year - only two to do in April(Corporation dissolution removed the need for the 'extra' four)
