I have a Cedar Chest, store made that I bought used, lined with aromatic cedar
I keep my wool sweaters and shirts in. I have noticed one thing, after being in there for about 6+ months, they pick up the cedar aroma. Not a bad thing since I dont use Deodorant and shower only on Saturdays. LOL.
If you dont want to go through the work of lining it, I have seen Aromatic Cedar blocks, about 2x2x4" sold in catalogs, LL Bean comes to mind.

Here is a small progress update. I have the sides and bottom assembled and glued. The chests are slowly coming together.

The progress continues slowly but surely. I have the outside of the chests done. Next I need to put in the cedar lining and the hardware. The Shopsmith has been busy.

Finished up with the first chest today after 6 weeks of puttering around. It looks like the above picture closed and like the picture below when open.

That is outstanding!
What is your jointery on the end to front panels. I can't see any tenons or mortise at the corners?

The corners are simply joined with 3/8" dowels and glue. As the box goes together, the cedar liner adds to the overall strength by being glued to the outer panels.
