I have both and I agree with folks, the Pro Planer is significantly better. The heavier bed is a very important piece of that, just keep it waxed and it works. My mounted one which works, has been relegated to become spare parts should something common break on the Pro.
My main thought was the feed mechanism, motor, controller failing on the Pro, but it is working fine.
Honestly, I think some of the feed motors that failed perhaps did so because the drag of forcing stock against a bed that wasn't waxed, loading it up excessively causing it to wear. Just a thought, not proven.
