My 520 didn't come with those magnetic rules, so I "invented" a $3 self-zeroing, 36" direct reading rip scale.

I find the shopsmith scales to be good for simple cuts but no so great if I really want a accurate cut. I also only use the main table one, the longer ones sound good on paper but in actual use, well not so nice. The second set of longer ones I got for my second 520 upgrade are still in the bags unused.
I have a issue catching the edge on the main table rule (not in use) and have kinked it in a couple of places. I have a new one I purchased this past summer but haven't replaced it yet. Once you get one of these kinks then it starts happening even more often. I found that the stiff thin stainless steel rules are magnetic and since I rip to the right of the blade I can use one of those...... and that also works. It seems most of the stainless steel rules are magnetic so give yours a try.
