Thanks for sharing your photos and experience jsburger -- I've been on the fence about buying the extension table brackets for a little while (just seems the simplest method to achieve infeed/outfeed functionality, and uses existing SS tables) - your endorsement helped make the decision, ordering them today !

There is one significant problem with the Shopsmith solution: you cannot use extension tubes while using it.
If you have the 505/510/520 you have to use extension tubes to mount the support table. You can use the ones provided or purchase the long versions so I guess I don't understand the above comment. Could you explain?
Ed
I think I need to clarify. I have a 510, the extension tubes fit inside the "tubular rails" of the main table. The support table that I have
http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/cata ... ttable.htm mates with the "tubular rails" NOT the extension tubes. Consequently, I cannot use extension tubes connected to fixed or floating tables at the same time I use the support table.

Are you really, really sure about that?
Could you, would you please post a photo image of a setup where you CANNOT use extension tubes due to the support table being in service.
As a side, do you have a pair of these?

The support table I have (from the previous post) connect to the main table tubes with 2 black, plastic spring loaded plungers. One plunger connects to each end of the rear, main table tube. You ABSOLUTELY CANNOT install an extension tube into the rear main tube when the plungers (and the support table) are in place. I certainly can't install a 5ft long extension tube. I can use extension tubes originating from the fixed tables and mount floating tables, but that is NOT what I want to do or what I was referring to in my post.
And to answer your last question, no, I don't have a pair of the extension brackets. I'm just getting back to using my woodworking gear after a loooooong hiatus, so I only just learned of them recently.

Thanks for the reply. I have never seen your table and I did not know that that was how the one mates with the other.
I have the extension brackets but hardlt ever use them. At the same time, I know of several forum members who use them on a frequent basis and love 'um.

I'd really like to see a picture of the 510 table setup for the extension. If someone who owns one could snap a picture it on showing the attachment that would be great.

Here's the photo of a 510 with them on the back side I posted previously.

I would like to know if there is a way to add a rip fence to the extension table.

Thanks! I have a 520 and both the table and two sets of the extensions. I would find not having the ability to use the tubes a big pain, I feel for you.
