Don't I wish. It does have manual focus but by the time it takes to get to it and then set up to use it the subject is often gone. I managed to get three pictures, one with the buck at the end when he came along but just after the picture they took off.
The model after mine had a better setup for manual focus but the model after that is back to the same sort of thing mine does. I guess the focus group (yes I know, the focus group on focus...) I guess don't see the need for it. Now I'm weighing waiting for a newer model or going up the price scale to get what I want.

'Setup' on my fuji is flip the continuous/shutter/manual switch to manual and adjust the focus ring. Simple yet quick and effective. Love the 'enlarged' focus area when adjusting. Yes it works when shooting through branches and with max optical zoom.
