I've always soaked a piece of wood in paint thinner, then run the saw blade at speed through it. Worked great! Admittedly... this was before most of these other solutions mentioned were avail. Suppose you could substitute any of them.

On other sites, I have read that some folks recommend ammonia mixed with water. I have tried ammonia on rip blades that are not welded tipped. It is a quick and cheap solution. A tooth brush helps to get any pitch residue off. That's when I started using paste wax on my blades. But, I don't know the chemical reaction of ammonia to solder for attaching the carbide tips. Any experience or recommendation?

Another Simple Green user here. Worked wonders on my bandsaw blade after cutting pine.

Ammonia and water solution works well to clean the blade. BUT that's another way to weaken to welds,so I quit using it.
