If all you want is flat then why use the shopsmith tables? A piece of mdf could be used or even old counter top material if you wanted a slicker top, just use the legs. The possibilities grow if the rip fence isn't going to be mounted there.

Ah, but the rip fence can be mounted, it just cannot span multiple tables(same as not spanning main to aux tables - a M5, 500 trait). The wider table does not share that 'trait'.

I have a few of the extension tables. two I think where ends are casted into the edge and two that have the aluminum lip added to it. They are Mark 500. I thought of placing the leaves upside down and nesting them together and bolt them. Possible putting bondo or something between them to hold them before I bolt them. The tables would be flat but wondered if others have been successful. Thanks for all the input.
