Thanks I thought that may be what they are for but they would have to be driven over the keeping ring on the caster. Mine is perfect without them.

PS - I was surprised in our tests at how different the bracket position was if assembled pushing down vs pushing up. I wouldn't have expected the small bolt to hole clearance to make anywhere near the difference that our measurements show.
. . .
1/4" screw(with threads) in a 5/16" hole in thin sheet metal?

Close to 1/16" I would guess. ;)

Sorry JPG you'll need to do the math again. It a 9/32" hole.

Good to hear they are smaller these days.

OK, a bit more than 1/32. How thick them washers? :)

ShopsSmith is too cheap to buy new packaging for the Mark 7? At least someone was kind enough to paste "7" over the "V"!

Congratulations on your shiny new machine!

Personally I consider it a practical thing to do until current stock runs out. Then perhaps changing the art work to "7" and getting some "V" stickers. :)

However "7" stickers is 'cheaper' than new artwork.

Realize this is a small keep it simple(cost effective) operation.

Besides the 'sticker' draws one's attention to it.

Looks good. I have considered upgrading my 510 or buying a new PowerPro Mk 7. Any thoughts on your decision to go new?

For me it just made sense to buy the Mark 7. I had briefly considered buying the complete power pro head stock for my 520 but it has served me well for 15 years and still runs like new. I really wanted to set up a dedicated Shopsmith drill press so that's what I am doing with it. If you have the room you would never regret doing that with your 510 or turning it into a shorty whichever would serve you best. With the Mark 7 you would be getting the 520 upgrade along with the double tilt and power pro.

When did you place the order for your new Mark 7, mbcabinetmaker?

Just wondering how long SS's back log is for a new complete Mark 7 is these days.

Thinking I might pull the trigger soon...
