Did not mean to do a wrong thing. I have my return label comming from Shopsmith today, and they want the power supply and control display sent in for repair. Did not mean to do anything wrong was just curious but now I know what they wanted.

My PowerPro bit the dust a couple years ago. I installed it in 2010 and have turned almost a hundred bowls since. It just stopped in the middle of a bandsaw operation. There is a flicker of the backlight every 3 seconds or so, nothing else. No messages of any kind. I have taken it all apart looking for obvious possible issues like loose connections. I removed the flywheel off the motor to check the speed sensor and blow out the dust. Nothing worked so I sent the control panel and power supply to the mother ship about a month ago but haven't heard anything back yet. I'm willing to spend the $500 for a new power supply if that's the issue. I suspect service is very busy, especially if these units are beginning to fail. I had a second backup unit available which I reinstalled after having a reverse modification made to the motor. I've been using this stock setup for several years now and it serves my needs.
My concern is that SS may not be able to survive too many failures of the PP without a long term warranty to cover the cost of repairs or replacement. We have come to expect these great machines to perform without any issues for many years. I would recommend anybody thinking about acquiring the PP to have a used backup unit on hand in the event it will be needed, since it may be months before you get any repairs/replacements on the PP.
