It is a jig saw instead of a scroll saw but basically have the same function just the design is different. It also appears to have a support table. I do not see a miter gauge or a tail stock but the sanding disk and tool rest are there. Smaller items could also just not be pictured. Ask about them and see if you can get the price lowered if missing to cover replacement costs. Also this unit has been posted for about a month, so you may be able to negotiate a lower price since it has been listed for so long.
Really appreciate you reviewing those ads and pointing things out. I'll inquire on the missing items and see what can be done there.
All the advice given is tremendous and really appreciate it from everyone who chimed in.
I hope that I can share good news soon that I have a 510 in my garage.
Looking forward to the experience and knowledge on the forum.
You've already received some great advice and suggestions, and can only add a couple of thoughts:
1. You are in a great area for shopping for used machines. I sometimes monitor the ads for your areas in hopes of finding a good buy that I can ask a relative to purchase for me.
2. Expand your search to include "Shop Smith" (two words) and you may find more potential good buys. If you haven't already made up your mind, this one listed for $499 caught my eye ...

... and now it is listed for $349, after 2 price cuts. After posting here when I first saw it, I have since posted a link to the ad in the "Heads Up - Bargain Available" sticky post at the top of the Community Section so that you or anyone else interested can have a shot at getting it. Granted, it is not a 510, but it looks like a solid starter machine in reasonably good condition (rust wise) with three SPTs.
After waiting and searching, I am finally in the ShopSmith club.
Picked up a Mark 5 520 with band saw, jointer, DC3300 and bunch of smaller accessories. Used up nearly all of my budget but it was hardly used. It is basically still new so it has a very long life ahead of itself. I hope to do the previous owner proud.
I'm busy inventorying everything and going through the manual right now. With this purchase, I'm re-organizing my garage to make it work with a car, kid's stuff. I'm eyeballing a scroll saw nearby so will need to figure out how to fit that in, too.
