Very nice work Charles. I have plans to make one quite similar to yours for my grandson. Have taken ideas from several I have seen and combined them into the best design for my taste. The pieces are still a big question mark for me. Until I saw yours I thought the lathe was the only way to go but now I have something more to think about.

You can make the pieces any size you want by enlarging the silhouette from the Shopsmith plans. To find the plans - click "WOODWORKING RESOURCES" then "Articles and Projects", then "chess and checkers" (beneath Bandsaw projects).sehast wrote:Very nice work Charles. The only trick is to make sure your wood blanks are square.
After clicking on the sihlouettes and printing - I enlarged them on a copy machine and cut out the paper and glued them to a 1/8" piece of hardboard. After sawing out the hardboard I had templates for all pieces. It was pretty easy using a sharpie to trace around the templates.
