Here's another box...
Some selected rabbets allowed me to use "through grooves" rather than stopped grooves, for the bottom panel and the sliding top lid. Similar final outcome on the box, but the 'tails and pins' are different than the prior box:
"Stopping" some through-grooves on the end pieces via rabbets:
Subtle planning difference vs. usual through-dovetail corners:
One end-piece getting slotted for clearing the sliding lid:
Coming together, fixing gaps, etc. By the way, the Overarm Router was just the thing to cut shallow grooves for the marquetry strips on the sliding lid:
