(BTW, I think the MS browsers will display TIFF files, but Chrome and Firefox need a plug-in)

I needed something simple to do the other day so I took a shot and the Cross-Cutter jig too. I didn't have any threaded inserts on hand so I just tapped the hard maple block. I tried it out and it does work well. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to do the initial setup for a dado but after that, it was easy to use.

I like that. Easier to thread the wood (if is hard enough) than mess with threaded inserts. ARC

That should work great as long as the threads in wood last. But, no sweat, if they do fail you can still use threaded inserts.

Squirt some thin CA into those threads. Helps durability. They will be tight initially.
You used 1/4-20 bolts?

Yep, 1/4-20 bolts. Also picked up some threaded inserts the last time I was at Lowe's and installed them.
