Playing round with the finish wasn't sure if I should finish with satin high gloss or semi gloss . looks like semi gloss wins .

Isn't the center panel going to expand and contract a lot? Have you made provisions for that? I am just spit balling here, but just curious if you calculated for that....

I hope ,,the head board is the one that worry's me ,,its pretty big ,,the bottom is just trim,,, not a full rabbit .if any thing the trim may come loose in a few years ,,,the long rabbit in the top is only glued in a few places allowing for room to move,, the ends are pegged and glued to the top as you seen in the photo's . the moisture content of the wood was sealed with a polyurethane finish @ 6% .

I was wanting to carve out a hunter and a pair of dogs jumping up a pheasant on the foot board but she said no , she still debating on the leaves .

I said I could do a pair of coon dogs treeing a raccoon ,,,,ahhh,,,,, she wouldn't go for it either,,,,

It is not the length of those boards that will move(shrink/expand), but the width. Each of those boards will move almost simultaneously(over a long time span). Grain orientation in each board will vary. Quater sawn will be the worst.(rings run from face to face)

You are 100% correct ,, they do that from humidity from my knowledge , when the board absorbs humidity it grows, when it dry's it shrinks, since 6% is about a low as it can go,,,, fingers crossed it will be good ,,,,,I got into a rush years ago making a raised panel cabinet door out of a mix of woods,, ,, I was 1 piece shot ,,so I put in a piece of wood at 8% moisture and the rest were around 6% ,even though the door panel was floating,, no glue,, the board split after a coupe years .
