I too use a rolling cart. It is one that was sold by one of the companies that sells clamps. I don't know the name of the comp[any. It was given to me by a gentleman who was in the trade but retired. I have most of my clamps on it but not all of them. I have out grown it. If I could find another like it, I would buy it. Yes, bringing the clamps to the work area really beats running back and worth even though I don 't have far to run in a 20x20 work shop.

I was inspired to do a search. I found one very similar to what I have. The price set me back some but this may become an addon to my equipment list.

My shop is too small these days or maybe just too cluttered with machinery to have a rolling clamp cart. I keep them on the wall and use my shop chair which is an old office chair on wheels to wheel them over to the work bench. I keep my c clamps, hand screws and quickclamps at the end of the workbench.

I took a close look at that rack Dusty but decided to buy just their clamp storage hangers. I'm surprised that Rocker is still in the last century with shipping times from 10 to 14 days. Right now they are my hold up on starting the new cart.

Oh and USPS lost the casters that I ordered from Amazon!

I certainly agree with you Dust. The price is a little steep for what it is. You could probably buy some angle iron and castors and make one for way less than $170.

This is my pipe clamp rack.













And this is the assortment of clamps that I need to organize along with about 20 more on order. If Shopsmith can build a complete shop in 12 square feet surely I can build something to store a couple hundred clamps in around half that.

Here is a (bad) picture of the one I am currently working on. It is on the back of my small cutoff storage cart.

This is my crummy wall-mount storage for my inadequate collection of clamps. They are often hard to get to, so I'm seriously thinking of a ceiling-mounted solution.

I have a fairly good collection of clamps but due to my pending move I moved all of the small clamps to a couple large rubber maid containers. I thought that would be a safe move but it seems like almost every day I spend any time at all in the shop - I need a clamp. I am about to unpack.

I like that but could possibly choke on the price...
I like the concept of portable towers for a number of things in the shop. Maybe if "someday" I ever settle on one floor plan I could hang them on a wall. Of course I would then hang a rack on my wall cleat system and could move them around but I still lean toward towers.
I have considered using a 6' wooden step ladder (modified) but that would require a bit more floor space than the one you show.
At the moment I am leaning toward making a rack that is step ladder shaped using two 6' pieces cut from an old wooden extension ladder mounted on a base possibly about 2.5' squarish. I have several wood extension ladders and some old wood straight ladders all no longer used. I don't use them for a couple of reasons not the least of which is weight (me and the ladders both). Another is age (me and the ladders both) and years of them sometimes getting soaking wet on the job. Today I've become very attached to aluminum or fiberglass ladders.

Ramble attack...
I have been regularly seeing older wood ladders selling at consignment auctions and they can usually be bought for only a few bucks. I plan to start buying any that go cheap for other uses. One is that we plan to paint several white and mount horizontal on post like fence and use them as arbors for several vining plants we have. Another planned use is two bolted together horizontally as horse gates for horse lots also painted white.

I was looking around the internet for plans for something else and found a multi-layered clamp rack plan at http://www.stumpynubs.com/clamp-rack.html. I have not purchased any plans from the site but some of the ideas are interesting.
