Ended up doing boiled linseed oil with paste wax on surfaces that touch the table saw. I think it should make a decent gift for my father.

Its a nice push block that controls the material on both sides of the blade. It will help to prevent kickback in this way. It's a neat way to add safety while creating a new project to work on. Fun stuff.
