I did receive the metal handles from MKCTools. Installed very easily and are a perfect solution. Can't imagine why Shopsmith would not have supplied the tool rest with something like this to begin with except for cost savings. These work very well and are about the same price point as the replacements from Shopsmith which are plastic again. Great advice. The tool rest you linked to looks like a beast. I would be interested in user feedback on it if available.

Thanks for the feedback on these handles from MKCtools, I just ordered a set. Previously I tried buying (the plastic handles) from Shopsmith, but after six weeks of waiting they are still backordered with no delivery date available, so I cancelled.
