Today’s additions to the Xmas gifts

I thought I was done with the Xmas presents and then Hobbyman reminded me I left out the most important one so today I will turn a small covered bowl a present for the lady of the house. I thought I would give a final assessment of the Woodbridge mill hardware and their other kitchen utinsels. The salt and pepper mill hardware is pretty decent. Installing the hardware is a little difficult due to the very tiny wood screws that need to be installed for the holding plates. Their instructions on how to turn the mills works but is very cumbersome and time consuming. I finally worked out a way to do them far easier and quicker. Boring the 15/16” hole down the middle of the 12” version was easier than I expected. I ended up buying a new 15/16” bit for the Paduak ones. The wood was too hard for my old one no matter how sharp I got it. The new bit was one of the wave design ones and I was very impressed by how much better they perform. It bored through the end grain Paduak like butter. If you’re going to turn some let me know and I will post what I worked out. I put the salt and pepper in one set and they grind very well. The utinsels are all pretty straight forward. The ice cream scoop I have done before and they are a huge favorite. Very well made. The pizza cutters have a threaded insert to allow for putting the cutter head in the dishwasher. The insert idea is a good one but is very difficult to accomplish without cracking the handle. Especially using very hard woods. I ended up remaking the bubinga one and just epoxied the handle on like the rest of the utinsels. Overall I was pleased with their products

The last Christmas turning done and just in time. Her gift will go inside. It’s a walnut burl I have been saving and I glued a bubinga block on top of it.

No not new at all. I bought all of my SS’s used and they are all late 80’s early 90’s vintage.
The PP was an upgrade.
